Alici Fritte, which is fried anchovies, is usually served as an aperitif and is featured on our Rome Cookery Holiday. Our venue is located about 30 minutes outside the city of Rome. Ingredients
- Fresh Anchovies
- Flour
- Eggs
- Breadcrumbes
- Salf and Pepper
- Peanut Oil
Instructions
- Wash the anchovies under cool tab water and let them dry on a clean cloth
- Arrange the bread crumbs, the whisked eggs and the flour in separate dishes
- When the anchovies are dry, roll them in the flour
- Then dip them in the egg and finally roll them in the bread crumbs
- Fry the anchovies in very hot peanut oil
- Then lay them on blotting paper to absorb any additional oil
- Add salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately
